The original Golf Course was designed by Mungo Park (brother of Willy Park Jr.) around 1905 and then modified by Dr. Alister Mackenzie and Luther Koontz, in the early 1930’s.

The new course was designed by Luther Koontz in 1949 and opened for play in 1952. Some greens where modified by Emilio Serra in the 80s and the local designers Caprile-Capdepont redesigned greens 1-2-8 in 1993.

It is located in the middle of the country club, keeping the houses not too close to the holes, giving the course a “pure golf” special atmosphere. Course maintenance is one of the best in the country, with its greens rolling at 11 feet in the Stimpmeter during the most important events. Greens, Fairways and even roughs look manicured. And the wide variety of tree types gives the course an extra beauty element.

Golf Club Argentino’s trade mark are its greens: small, hard, fast and with the shape of an inverted dish. That is why holding the approach shots on the greens is the toughest part of a game in this classic parkland.

The course today measures 6757 from the back tees for a par of 72 (37 for the Out 9 and 35 for the Back 9). It used to be a long course in the 1980s; today it is not short, but cannot be considered long. It is a very narrow course with several doglegs, ideal for parkland golf lovers, with the right amount of water, located relatively close to everything… This club is a noteworthy option from every golfer who visits Argentina.

The most challenging holes are 2, 8 and 11 (handicap 3, 1 and 2 respectively, being the tee shot at 2nd the most demanding one on the course, as it stands in front of OB on the left and a water hazard on the right). The stretch of the final 3 holes is known in Argentina as one of the toughest, especially the par 3 17th hole were a badly missed shot can easily lead to a double bogey, even for Pros.
